U-19 LADIES BASKETBALL TEAM SHARES SKILLS IN DEVELOPING INTEREST WITH COMMUNITIES

The U-19 Ladies Basketball team is travelling to various locations within Alberta to continue their training efforts and to share their skills and talents with community members from these areas. Gerard Brand, U-19 coach, and Leslie Kucey, U-19 Manager, are busy arranging schedules and practice dates and maintaining communication with the various community members as the team gears up toward the North American Indigenous Games in Toronto this July.

Brand is pleased at the way the teammates are bonding and is especially happy at the way each of the communities they visit and its members are accepting in having the team train at their facilities.

“The North American Indigenous Games U19 team visited the Maskwacis community for training. In keeping with our desire to develop leadership qualities, our athletes worked with members of the community on their basketball skills and their leadership. It was such a wonderful experience seeing the big smiles on the young girls who came out to train especially when they played in a scrimmage with the U19 girls,” he said. “We look forward to these sessions in all the communities we visit as we train for the games. If anyone has questions or would like us to visit and train at their community, please contact Leslie Kucey.”
