Blood Tribe Administration Hires New Senior Executive Officer, Sarah Blackwater

The Blood Tribe Administration is proud to announce Sarah Black Water as the new Senior Executive Officer (SEO). Black Water has 15 years of experience working in leadership roles on and off-reserve. She has extensive experience working with the Provincial and Federal Governments in the education sector, and she also has experience dealing with organizational structures of governance on reserve.
The Senior Executive Officer acts as a liaison between Council and Blood Tribe departments and entities to ensure uniform development, maintaining Chief and Council’s mandate, vision, and the values of Kainayssini. The SEO performs their duties in adherence to Blood Tribe laws, including financial management regulations and BTA policies and processes. This ensures that all BTA department directors adhere to Chief and Council’s directives and execute them effectively and efficiently.

Blackwater started her education journey at the University of Lethbridge where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Native American Studies. She then pursued her Bachelor of Education and went on to receive her Master’s in Educational Leadership.
She is married to Kes Blackwater and is the mother of Tahner and Boogie Blackwater. In her free time, she enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time with family.
