The Blood Tribe Administration (BTA) is proud to announce Tyler Swag as the new Program Manager for the Blood Tribe Twin Rinks, effective June 2026.
Swag is the founder and owner-operator of Good Movement, an indigenous-owned health and wellness company created in 2023. Good Movement’s main objectives are to create positive & healthy lifestyles for people through fitness, sport, nutrition, and traditional Indigenous ways.
Swag, along with his team from Good Movement, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the ice utilization schedule, including facility bookings. Good Movement will also run health and fitness programs out of the Twin Rinks.
Since 2023, Good Movement has become a successful and award-winning business through Swag’s hard work and efforts, as he received the 2024 Knud Petersen Spirit in Sport Award from the Lethbridge Sport Council. The award recognizes and celebrates community heroes who embody the magic of sport by inspiring, motivating, and capturing the hearts and minds of the community. In addition, Swag has been nominated for Young Business of the Year by the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce.
Over the past few years, Good Movement has also worked with school divisions from both the Blood and Piikani reserves, as well as other school divisions throughout southern Alberta, by facilitating fitness and movement sessions and teaching students about Indigenous culture through traditional games and dance.
Beyond this, Swag and his Good Movement team have also worked with many community departments, assisting them with programming, particularly those with clients, which provide opportunities to teach healthy habits and routines.
“Our goal as Good Movement and my goal in general is to create structure and consistency within our communities,” says Swag, who personally used sports and fitness to rebuild himself after struggling as a young adult, as it helps to maintain a healthy mind and body.
“And that structure and consistency is going to lead into routines. It’s going to lead to healthy habits, and that is going to translate into positive change at the end of the day.”
Tyler is the son of Norma Russell and Jim Swag, who is from the Piikani Nation. His grandparents on his mother’s side are the late Dr. Lena Russell and James Russell.
