Blood Tribe Administration Department Staff and Standoff Community Members joined forces this past weekend to collectively clean up the town site as part of the yearly Blood Tribe Community Clean-up.
From 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., BTA Department Staff workers and community members travelled throughout Standoff to load garbage and haul it away. More than 30 truck-and-trailer loads of spring waste were hauled away as part of this year’s Standoff Community Clean-up.
This year’s Cleanest Yard Award was given to Leanne Eagle Plume for the hard work she and her family members put in to beautifying her property. Other community members who claimed cash prizes for their yard-cleaning efforts were Ricky White Man Left, who placed second, and Shan Eagle Speaker, who placed third.
The next Community Clean-ups on the Blood Reserve will take place in Old Agency on May 16, Moses Lake on May 23, and Levern on May 30.
A friendly reminder to community members to bring their large items they want hauled away to the curb or roadway in front of your home the night before clean-up day for pick up. Also, for the safety of volunteers please tie up your dogs at a safe distance from the items you want hauled away. These steps will make the most of the time being spent for community clean-ups.

Trish Black Water and Connie Shouting with the Standoff Community Committee for helping to organize the clean-up. Gail Many Bears and Josie Many Bears for helping to prepare the bagged lunches. Robbie Rabbit, Leslie Water Chief, Wanda Plain Eagle, and Corrie Sweet Grass, with Blood Tribe Housing, for making sure volunteers and BTA staff were fed and hydrated by delivering bag lunches and water throughout the day. Last but not least, a big thank you to all the other community members who came to help with the Community Clean-up; your efforts are much appreciated.
