Dedicated Volunteers Provide Essential Advisory Roles at Blood Tribe All Community Committees Meeting.

The Blood Tribe All Communities Committee meetings are held on the first Monday of every month. The Committees, one for each of Standoff, Moses Lake, Levern, and Old Agency, are composed of volunteers dedicated to fostering collaboration and addressing community needs.

Once a month, representatives from each committee gather to share ideas, identify local issues, and coordinate events and programming that are making a real difference in the lives of Blood Tribe members. The platform plays a key role in supporting activity and connection among our Nation. Funding for each committee is provided by Blood Tribe Senior Management, but fundraising efforts are also held throughout the year to supplement these resources.

“We’re all volunteers here, and this is us trying to help our communities in some way, shape, or form,” explained Clo Ann Wells, Director of Blood Tribe Land Management and Standoff representative.

Since May, 2018, their grassroots efforts have been responsible for many of the dances, clean-ups, youth activities, and other fun events across the Blood Reserve.

Susan Bruised Head, a representative for Old Agency, explained the significance these meetings have had on relationship building and why she personally joined her committee.

“I wanted more communication, more involvement and awareness. And just because I love my community,” she said.

“Because we’re such a big community, we’re trying to plan more activities around cultural awareness. We had a round dance back in March, and because I’ve never planned or did a round dance myself before, it’s always good we have other community members that have stepped up and that we can rely on,” said Bruised Head.

These meetings are open to the public and are a great way to stay informed about upcoming Blood Tribe events. The Community Committees are always seeking volunteers to participate. Whether you’re interested in helping plan events, sharing ideas, or simply staying informed, your involvement will help strengthen the work being done.

Marcella Wolf Tail, Director of Blood Tribe Recreation and Parks and a representative for Standoff, shared this message for anyone considering coming out to participate.

“Bring your ideas. It’s a chance to come out and express what you want to see done in your community,” she said.
