Oki,
EMERGENCY FOOD PACKAGES UPDATE, March 20, 2020:
Today, the Team and volunteers worked steadily to prepare the food hampers and delivered 140. Deliveries will continue as the packages are assembled. Blood Tribe members are able to sign up for the food packages by calling Blood Tribe Social Development, during work hours, at (403) 737-3974 or the FCSS Food Bank at (403) 737-2888. Again, thank you for your patience and we will provide updates on an on-going basis.
Take care and be safe!
Emergency Food Packages Update, March 19, 2020: Food items were secured, the cleaning supplies are hard to come by in western Canada, but the team will still work to get them included in the hampers. The Team will start delivering the packages over the next 4-5 days.
Blood Reserve residents who will receive the packages are:
- Seniors Citizens – Fixed income
- Income Assistance
- AISH recipients
- Post-secondary students
- EI Recipients – Current
The Team is working to immediately reach the vulnerable on the Blood Reserve, followed by our Lethbridge and Calgary families. Please remember that even though the Blood Reserve has come together for previous disaster relief efforts, the COVID-19 coronavirus is a pandemic we have not experienced in recent memory. The provincial Chief Medical Officer ordered a crowd limit of 50 people that the Team must follow when working together and practice strict sanitation orders. These extra steps result in a little more time to complete the hampers in the safest way possible.
In order to make sure we are keeping everyone safe, in place of the normal distribution and pick up, we will be delivering the hampers to minimize the risks to our seniors, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
We will also provide important Blood Tribe information pamphlets in the hampers, so please keep them in a safe place. Updates will be posted on our website: bloodtribe.org and Facebook page Tsiniksinni on an on-going basis. We thank you all for your patience and please continue safe hygiene practices, social distancing and limit your travel.
Thank you,
Pam Blood
