Oki,
Blood Tribe Department of Health and the Environmental Health Officer has been made aware of local food vendors at the site of Aakookatsin (Sundance grounds), which raises serious safety concerns about COVID-19. Officials are worried about the potential risks for the possible spread and transmission of the COVID-19 virus in the community, and therefore, discourage individuals from setting up this year.
Today, the Blood Reserve has one (1) active case, as we all know that in the past five months, our community, on all different levels, continues to work hard to ensure our active numbers remain low. For Kainai, this is one of the most important times of the year, so we want to encourage members to be safe while we support each other in the best way possible.
Continuous education is key, so we ask Blood Tribe members who are planning an event, or any activity involving public contact, to check with BTDH and Community Health on safety measures to keep everyone healthy. Our trusted health professionals can offer the most current information on risks and will guide you on what you can do.
We are all in this together – let’s continue to keep our families, friends, and elders safe!
Thank you,
Blood Tribe Communications & Community Engagement
