COVID-19 Tracker Update and Important Message – January 13, 2021 (Blood Reserve)

Since the last report of COVID-19 active cases, you will notice a SIGNIFICANT INCREASE from 23 to an all-time high of 45, on the Blood Reserve, as of 3 p.m. January 13, 2021.

Upon notice of the increase from Blood Tribe Department of Health, the Blood Tribe Emergency Management worked quickly with administrators and the Blood Tribe Police Service to take steps to assist in containing the virus on the Blood Reserve.

Blood Tribe leadership, frontline staff of entities and departments worked hard to educate the public on the seriousness of the COVID-19 virus since March of 2020. Unfortunately, we are finding that some of our Blood Tribe members are not following the health guidelines and safety measures set out by our teams. In order to maintain the safety of our elders, children, immunocompromised loved ones we are serving a warning to those who are considering a continual defiance to these rules to be prepared to face penalties within the workplace and subsequent fines as per the Blood Tribe Emergency Protection Bylaw.

We acknowledge a large portion of our people are following these rules and have been doing so for a great amount of time. We thank you for doing so; however, for the safety of the Blood Reserve – Emergency Management needs to take these actions as a necessary step to stop the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We will report more actions in the coming days. Please check back with Blood Tribe Communications for further announcements.

**UPDATE: The active cases has since been updated to 53**

Stay Safe,
