Emergency Response Team assist Blood Tribe Police Service with an armed and barricaded person.
On February 10, 2021 at 8pm the Blood Tribe Police Service were called to a residence in a rural area of Kainai to remove an intoxicated man who was no longer welcome. Upon arrival, police officers discovered the man left the residence and was inside a nearby camper trailer.
Two police officers approached the camper trailer and through a window, one witnessed a man load a bolt action rifle and point it towards the door of the camper trailer, where the other police officer was standing and about to knock. Both police officers were able to reposition to safety and evacuate the residents of the home.
RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS) were called to assist. ERT attended from Calgary, with an armoured vehicle and safely took one man into custody at 3:20am. Police seized one rifle and one shotgun.
45 year old Leon GOOD DAGGER of the Blood Tribe was arrested and found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest and has been further charged with several firearms offences. GOOD DAGGER has been remanded into custody and will appear in Lethbridge Court on February 21, 2021.
