Issued by: Blood Tribe Emergency Management Team – (March 5, 2021)
Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health recently announced that one of the COVID-19 variant strains has affected a member of Treaty 7. We can confirm that, as of today, it has not yet entered the Blood Reserve.
Because the new variants are deemed more contagious, we ask all members to be vigilant in following the public safety measures and limit travel to essential purposes ONLY. We also remind those that have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine – you still need to follow all public health measures.
Please remember:
• Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is available Monday to Friday (9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) at the Standoff Health Centre parking lot.
• Remember to isolate immediately if you notice any COVID-19 symptoms and make arrangements to get tested by calling (403) 737-8411 or 811.
• Follow public health measures:
o Stay home when sick
o Avoid social gatherings
o Practice physical distancing (6 feet/2 meters)
o Wearing a mask
o Washing your hands/using hand sanitizer
o Follow all enhanced safety measures ordered by Chief and Council
