Reservations Now open for Waterton Lakes’ Townsite Campground

(Information Provided By Parks Canada)

Waterton Park, AB – April 12, 2021

Parks Canada will begin accepting reservations for the Townsite Campground’s 2021 season on April 13 at 8 a.m. The reservable period is May 7 to September 8, 2021.

Camping is a popular way for Canadians to experience nature in Waterton Lakes National Park. The sunny, open Townsite Campground offers 246 sites (110 of which are fully serviced, and 75 electrical). It is excellent place for RVs or for those who wish to be within walking distance of Upper Waterton Lake, Cameron Falls and townsite amenities. The campground also has a separate loop of walk-in campsites for visitors who enjoy tenting.

Visitors can book their stay by visiting the Parks Canada website at reservation.pc.gc.ca or by calling 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783).

Parks Canada expects demands for reservations to be high, as Canadians look to get outdoors and stay closer to home for their vacation plans. In advance of the April 13 reservation launch, we encourage visitors to:

  • Mark your calendar. Launch days can be really busy! Make sure to be ready at the exact date and time that the location you seek is launching.
  • Create an account. You can browse without an account, but you will need to have one to reserve a site. Access your account using GCKey or a third party sign-in option.
  • Sign in to your account and practice using the system. You can search for sites on a map, in a list, or on a calendar – try all three to see if there’s one that works best for you. Most camping offers can also be reserved using your phone or tablet. If you get stuck, try this detailed overview
  • Have a back-up plan, in case the site you want isn’t available on the dates you want. Consider visiting during the week rather than weekends, or even during shoulder seasons.
