Blood Tribe COVID-19 Response Bulletin – April 17/2021

1. COVID-19 is still present on the Blood Reserve: 

As of April 16, 2021, the Blood Reserve’s confirmed active cases were at 16 (6 UK variant). Blood Tribe Community Health posts an updated tracker for the community, which can be accessed on their website: The tracker is also posted on Facebook pages – BTDH Community Health and Blood Tribe Communications. 

2. Vaccine Rollout – First Dose Vaccine Clinics:

A Weekend Vaccine Clinic is open for all Blood Tribe members ages 18+ on Saturday and Sunday (April 17 and 18th) from 10 am to 5 pm – WALK INS ARE WELCOME. Those who need transportation please call Blood Tribe Family and Community Support Services at (403) 737-2888 or (403) 360-9147. 

Bookings are currently open for Vaccine Clinics: April 20, 21, and 22, 2021. Please go to and click on the “COVID-19 Vaccine Registration”. If you have any problems, or questions please call (403) 737-3933. 

Dates and Time:

April 20 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

April 21 – 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

April 22 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As of Friday, April 16, 2021 – 2,209 first doses, and 968 second doses, were administered on reserve. Any Blood Tribe member who received their vaccine off-reserve are encouraged to report online on the Blood Tribe Vaccine Survey: This will help our health professionals get an accurate number of how many of our members have received the vaccine. 

Thank you all for registering and making commitments to receive the vaccine as you are all contributing to the safety of our community. Please remember to continue to follow all public safety measures (physical distancing, washing hands, wearing masks) after you receive your vaccine – for your first and second dose. 

3. Enhanced Safety Measures for Blood Reserve: 

Chief and Council extended the Enhanced Safety Measures Order to continue until April 30, 2021. These orders can be reviewed here:

  • Those under quarantine orders must follow or face penalties 
  • Curfew of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. 
  • Restricted travel to essential purposes only No social gatherings (public or private) – meetings are restricted to a max. of 10
  • No wakes are allowed at residences. 
  • All Blood Reserve residents are to remain with their own family cohort 
  • Masks are mandatory 
  • Physical distancing is required in public places (unless with family cohort)

Continue to Practice Prevention Against COVID-19 by following these guidelines: 

  • Wear facemasks 
  • Wash your hands often and well 
  • Avoid touching your face, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands 
  • Stay at home as much as possible, and practice social (physical) when you do leave home: keep at least 6 feet from others when going out for groceries, medical trips and other essential needs 
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick 
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched 
  • Stay away from others if you are feeling ill 
  • When sick, cover your cough and sneezes and then wash your hands
