Blood Tribe Communications and Community Engagement Highlight Reel

“It makes it so much more worth it in the end when you can show all these people who are just like you that you can do it and you can make your dreams come true if you just keep working and believing in yourself,”  -Apollo Hess (CTV interview with Rachel Crowspreadingwings).

Apollo Hess Mootooyaohkii is off to the 2024 Paris Olympics

Apollo was named to the Paris 2024 Olympic team after placing second in the men’s 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Olympic Swimming Trials.

In 2023, Hess finished third in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events at the U SPORTS Championships. He later left the school to move to Toronto to train at the High Performance Centre – Ontario.

Her goals are to continue her work as a professional artist and to serve her community through leadership and the arts.
“Enjoy the journey, especially when you experience hardships. It will be in those challenging times that you will grow and develop character.” (Published by University of Lethbridge)

Tom Three Person Induction into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Friday May 24, 2024

Media Coverage, Red Deer News Now

“This means everything, and it should’ve been done a long time ago,” says Roy Three Persons, one of Tom’s three grandsons, along with Sheldon and Wendell, who were on hand with other family to represent him. “Our grandfather was the first world champion. It means everything to our family, and it’s absolutely incredible. I’m sure he’s watching over us and that he’s happy we’re representing him. We don’t go out and start bragging about our grandfather, but our community is aware and they’re very happy.”

Tom Three Persons, a member of the Kainai Nation and a revered Siksikaitsitapi rodeo athlete and rancher, secured his legacy by winning the saddle bronc competition title at the inaugural Calgary Stampede in 1912. This victory, recognized as a world championship at the time, marked him as the only Canadian victor among the top rodeo athletes of that era. As an Indigenous athlete, Three Persons left a lasting mark on the history of the Calgary Stampede. Beyond his excellence in the arena, he played an important role as a builder in the sports of rodeo and horse racing in southern Alberta during the first half of the twentieth century. It is this lasting impact that positions Tom Three Persons as a Rodeo Pioneer in Alberta, a testament to his enduring contributions to the rich heritage of rodeo and horse racing in the region.

He was posthumously inducted with the Pioneer Award.
