Moses Lake                    June 22, 2024                              9AM

  • On June 1, 2024, the Old Agency Community Clean Up was held starting from the OA turnoff on HWY 509 to the north end of the Blood Reserve. Public works brought garbage bins and set them at various locations along the Old Agency Road, front end loaders from Public Works were also used to move large items. OA residents who do not have the use of trailers or trucks were appreciative for the help. Those who participated in the clean up were treated to a meal at the Old Agency Hall.
  • On May 25, 2024, the community of Moses Lake held their community clean up. Public works, the Town of Cardston and Cardston County, provided front end loaders, and dump trucks to assist with the removal of garbage and large item trash. They had a good turn out in the community and residents made good use of the trucks and hauled a lot of trash away.
  • On May 11, 2024, the community of Standoff held their community clean up. Standoff Residents were also appreciative of the help with loading trash onto one of the trailers provided. A BBQ was held after the clean up for all participants who came out to keep the Standoff community clean, and to help remove unsightly trash.
  • On a serious note, community residents are noticing their trash bags are being opened, this could be by animals or people. This is very dangerous, we want to remind community members, please do not handle or open any sealed garbage bags. Sealed bags could contain dangerous sharps, needles, and could be “death bags” which can kill a person if exposed to the toxic fumes inside the bag. If you notice any used needles or other drug paraphernalia, do not touch, call Blood Tribe Drug Harm Reduction Project (BTDHRP) for safe pick up and disposal. The BTDHRP house phone number is: 403-737-2119 and the cell phone is 403-382-0902.

Callout for all community members to help with the remaining cleanups, let’s work together as a community. Please have household garbage and yard waste only ready for pick-up on curb on day of community cleanup. The cleanup will focus on public areas, residents of communities are encouraged to clean around homes prior to community clean-up dates. Do not open sealed bags and do not touch needles or sharps. Blood Tribe departments, entities, and businesses are encouraged to clean around your spaces and have garbage ready for pick up prior to community cleanup dates. Volunteers needed, please contact your community committee representative for more information.
