One of Kainai’s premier athletes, Eddie Little Shields, is set to shine at The Canadian Junior League Baseball Championship that kicks off this week, July 22 – 29, 2025. This tournament, which takes place at Spitz Stadium in Lethbridge, AB, brings together the finest baseball talent from across Canada.
Chief Travis Plaited Hair (Aakaayaamihtsinima) was in attendance yesterday to provide the opening greetings and prayer on behalf of the Blood Tribe and to show his support for Eddie and his team.
Eddie is a pitcher, right fielder, and second baseman. Not only is he the youngest player on the host team, The Lethbridge Jr. Bulls, but he is also the only First Nations (Blood Tribe member) on the team.
Blood Tribe Administration and Chief & Council would like to congratulate Eddie and the Little Shields family for all his accomplishments. We wish him and his team the best of luck at the tournament. Go Lethbridge Jr. Bulls!
