Membership Department Offers Services Through a Pilot Project for Blood Tribe Members Living Off-Reserve

To help assist Blood Tribe members in obtaining identification cards, the Blood Tribe Membership Department recently offered some off-reserve service as part of a pilot project.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Sik-Ooh-Kitoki Friendship Society in Lethbridge, AB., the Blood Tribe Membership Department held its first off-reserve Identification Cards Processing Session.
The successful session ran from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite some delays, department staff processed 47 Blood Tribe membership cards and assisted with 35 applications for secured Indian status cards, which have since been mailed to Ottawa, ON.
Currently, the Membership staff is working to address the challenges they experienced and other minor issues to ensure more efficient service.
To assist the staff in providing an efficient and effective service, they are requesting that Blood Tribe members bring their original documents, such as birth certificates and current government-issued cards, if they wish to apply for a secured Indian status card.
The Blood Tribe Membership Department would like to thank all those who came out to support this session and apologize to those who were turned away due to the high volume. Please note that staff can accommodate only a limited number of people. To avoid line-ups, the public will be controlled at the door, and additional staff will be available for the next session.
