KBE Provides Update on Student Transportation Services
The Kainai Board of Education (KBE) is providing an update regarding student transportation services for the 2026-2027 school year.
The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. KBE continues to review and refine bus routes as student registration and transportation information is received and finalized. These adjustments are a normal part of implementing services and are intended to ensure that routes are as efficient and effective as possible for students and families.
There have been some challenges during the first week of school. KBE acknowledge that a small number of students were not assigned bus routes and further understand that some families have reported difficulty reaching KBE’s Transportation Coordinator. We apologize for any disruption or inconvenience caused by these circumstances. KBE is making every effort to ensure that these issues are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible. KBE has and continues to work diligently to implement our student transportation system and continues to improve service delivery each day.
As of today, KBE is pleased to report that all planned routes are operating, and all students registered with KBE who require student transportation services both on and off the Blood Reserve have had routes and drivers assigned to them. Any family whose child has not received route information, including because they have not registered their child for student transportation services, should contact KBE’s Transportation Coordinator at (403) 331-1322 or by email at [email protected], from Monday to Friday between 8:00am-4:30pm. KBE will continue to review routes and schedules as additional registration information is received.
Establishing KBE’s transportation infrastructure and service delivery model has required significant undertakings, including those relating to route planning, driver recruitment, vehicle inventory and maintenance, and regulatory compliance. This work and these processes are necessary and standard requirements in the implementation of a student transportation delivery model.
KBE continues to actively recruit qualified drivers and is working diligently to complete its roster of drivers while maintaining the high standards expected by families and the community. Like all KBE employees, bus drivers are required to meet stringent employment and safety standards. These requirements include successful completion of mandatory screening processes and other employment qualifications designed to help ensure student safety. KBE applies these standards consistently to all applicants and employees.
We recognize how important dependable transportation is for families and thank the community for its patience, understanding, and support of as we complete this work to deliver student transportation services on the Blood Reserve. KBE remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and effective transportation for every student who requires it.
